Minna Pöllänen is a Finnish artist based in London and Helsinki. Her works have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Finland and in England. She is currently studying on her final year of the MA in Photography at London College of Communication. Recent grants include Finnish Cultural Foundation (2010) and Arts Council of Finland (2010 and 2011). Her participation in the exhibition is supported by The Arts Council of Finland. Minna Pöllänen's photographs address issues surrounding the complex relationship between man and nature. Her work is a process of exploration and discovery that materializes itself through a combination of sculpture and photography. In the series Wood on Trees, the artist is attempting to revive two dead birch trees with the aid of industrially processed wooden planks of the same species. Pöllänen often approaches her subject in this curiously playful manner.
