Often the initiator of an idea or involved in a work realized in tandem, the artists exhibiting in entre+deux examine different approaches of artistic collaboration. They can sometimes be inspired by the presence of an individual, yet other times, collaboration appears to be inherent to their practice, bringing that cooperative process to a mute status. Collaborative practices imply that the artist looks differently at his work, “involving a deliberately chosen alteration of artistic identity from individual to composite subjectivity”. This shift is made possible by the intimacy between the artists presented in this exhibition; this closeness mutates through their entire creative process so the work becomes the witness of a common sensibility.
The collaborative works presented in entre+deux underline the relationship between friends or couples, by disclosing bits of intimacy and by covering the possibilities created by working à deux along with points of view on this a mutual desire to share.
